Hydraulic Fluid Spill

14:00 May 7 2014 Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics

Description
GBF received an anonymous call today from a Port of Galveston employee to report a large hydraulic fluid spill that was witnessed on Pier 10 at Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics yesterday morning (May 6). About a block and a half of land was covered with the fluid - it could have been around 100 gallons worth. They (people working near this spill) dispersed about 10-30 bags of oil dry and left it there instead of collecting it and disposing of it properly, so with the next rainfall it will wash into the bay. The reporter said that they have witnessed this happen probably two to three other times this year at this same location.

GBF facilitated this report being sent to the City of Galveston, Texas Commition on Environmental Quality, General Land Office, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
